Effective cooling of gain media in microchip lasers

Laser gain media generate excessive heat accompanied with laser oscillation due to the quantum defect in the stokes shift between pump photons and emitted photons. It is very important to remove excessive heat from gain media, because this heat causes many kinds of thermal problems in the laser cavity and degrades cavity conditions. Since microchip laser gain media have the short distance for heat flow, it is very easy for microchip laser to remove excessive heat.
