Ceramic laser gain media



In 1959, Dr. Coble was invented "translucent ceramics" where the light can pass across. Different from single crystals transparent (or translucent) ceramics is synthesized by the sintering method that is the similar process for opaque chinas. From 1964 researchers have tried to use ceramics as a laser gain media because of simple fabrication process compared to the general crystal growth.
