UV generation



Current main stream of UV light sources in industory field is appeared as the excimer laser such as ArF, KrF, XeCl, etc. Excimer lasers require corrosive gases such as F2 or Cl2. Therefore, solid-state coherent UV sources have been desired due to their stability, robustness, and safety. From the viewpoint of power applications, wavelength conversion from IR high power source is the easy way compared to laser oscillators that can directly gener5ate UV outputs. The most severe problem in the wavelenggth conversion from IR to UV is the low conversion efficiency that was limited by nonlinear materials. Our group found the solusion for this problem by the collaboration to a crystal supplyer, and realized a highly bright and efficient UV source.
