QPM with large aperture



The output power from QPM devices is limited by not their efficiency but the power density. Thus, more thick QPM device can give more high output power. This is the reason why the invention of the field-poling process can accelerate the investigation of high power QPM devices.


Recently, Dr. Ishizuki realized the large aperture in PPMgLN upto 10mm. This device demonstrated more tham half Joules of IR-OPO output from PPMgLN with 82% slope efficiency. This is 4 times larger than the output from 5mm-thick PPMgLN. (H. Ishizuki and T. Taira, Opt. Express 20, 20002 (2012).)
